Knee Pain

Knee Pain

The knee joint is one of the strongest and most important joints in the human body. It allows the lower leg to move relative to the thigh while supporting the body’s weight. Movements at the knee joint are essential to many everyday activities, including walking, running, sitting and standing.

Knee pain, stiffness, and swelling that causes you to limp or hampers your ability to move should not be ignored as it could signal a more serious knee injury that requires medical attention. The experts at Doctors Care are experts in diagnosing the cause of your knee injury and relieving your knee pain. We use proven treatment advances to relieve your knee pain, repair any damage that may have occurred, and return you to your normal activities as soon as possible.
Knee pain is very common but can greatly impact your quality of life.

There are several conditions associated with knee pain including: tears, fracture, sprains, and arthritis. We have a wide range of excellent non-surgical and surgical options to treat these conditions. Our success with eliminating our patients’ knee pain results from our multidisciplinary approach of including all areas that are involved in your care to develop a treatment plan just for you.
We prefer to take the non-surgical approach first. For knee pain, we would look at a variety of options for you, which might include:

  • Exercise
  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Braces
  • Injections
  • Medications

Often time injuries occur in and around the knee from overuse. Activities like running can be the cause of such injury as patellar tendonitis (injury to the tendon connecting your kneecap to your shinbone; common among runners and cyclists), IT band pain (an inflamed tendon that runs down the outside of the thigh; also common among runners) and knee bursitis (inflammation of a fluid-filled sac called the bursa near your knee joint).
We make every effort to find non-surgical solutions for knee pain. But when non-surgical treatment isn’t working, the damage to your knee is too severe, or the pain is interfering with your sleep and lifestyle, we may recommend surgery.
