The neck supports the full weight of the head and is very susceptible to muscle strain and the misalignment of, or damage to, the vertebra in the spinal column. Almost everyone experiences neck pain at some time. Neck pain can have a number of causes, for example: simple muscle strain; injuries as a result of accidents or sports; repetitive or unusual movements; and degenerative conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis. If you experience neck pain that persists for more than a few days, it would be advisable to consult you health professional. Call Doctors Care to experience quick effective relief!
It begins as a twinge. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, an elite athlete, or somewhere in between, there’s a strong chance that eventually you’ll deal with back pain. Here’s why: Everyday activities that you do without thinking — sitting at the computer, slipping on a pair of shoes, crawling into bed at night — can make or break your spine health. Most aches are caused by strains (injured muscles or tendons) or sprains (damage to the tough fibrous tissue, or ligaments, located where your vertebrae connect to joints). These injuries are typically brought on by overuse, a new activity, excessive lifting, or an accident. Other times, a compressed (aka pinched) nerve, such as in a herniated disk, is to blame for the ache.
The elbow is the joint where three long bones meet in the middle portion of the arm. The bone of the upper arm (humerus) meets the inner bone of the forearm (ulna) and the outer bone of the forearm (radius) to form a hinge joint. The radius and ulna also meet in the elbow to allow for rotation of the forearm. Elbow pain usually isn’t serious, but because you use your elbow in so many ways, elbow pain can definitely affect your life. Your elbow is a complex joint that allows you to extend and flex your forearm and rotate your hand and forearm. Most movements are a combination of these actions, and you may sometimes find it difficult to describe what exactly brings on the pain.
Your shoulder is made up of three bones: your upper arm bone (humerus), your shoulder blade (scapula), and your collarbone (clavicle). The head of your upper arm bone fits into a rounded socket in your shoulder blade. This socket is called the glenoid. A combination of muscles and tendons keeps your arm bone centered in your shoulder socket. These tissues are called the rotator cuff. They cover the head of your upper arm bone and attach it to your shoulder blade. Most shoulder problems fall into four major categories: Tendon inflammation (bursitis or tendinitis) or tendon tear, Instability, Arthritis, or Fracture (broken bone). Other much less common causes of shoulder pain are tumors, infection, and nerve-related problems.
The hip consists of two bones: the thighbone (femur) and the hip (pelvis). The femur and the pelvis come together to form the hip joint (iliofemoral). The thighbone is a long bone running from the knee up to the hip with a head shaped like a ball to fit neatly into a socket on the hip (acetabulum). Inside the socket is a flexible rim of soft tissue called the labrum, which helps increase the stability of the hip. Surrounding the hip joint is a joint capsule and multiple ligaments that help strengthen the hip joint.
The knee joint is one of the strongest and most important joints in the human body. It allows the lower leg to move relative to the thigh while supporting the body’s weight. Movements at the knee joint are essential to many everyday activities, including walking, running, sitting and standing. Knee pain, stiffness, and swelling that causes you to limp or hampers your ability to move should not be ignored as it could signal a more serious knee injury that requires medical attention. The experts at Doctors Care are experts in diagnosing the cause of your knee injury and relieving your knee pain. We use proven treatment advances to relieve your knee pain, repair any damage that may have occurred, and return you to your normal activities as soon as possible. Knee pain is very common but can greatly impact your quality of life.
