Here’s why: Everyday activities that you do without thinking — sitting at the computer, slipping on a pair of shoes, crawling into bed at night — can make or break your spine health. Your shoulder is made up of three bones: your upper arm bone (humerus), your shoulder blade (scapula), and your collarbone (clavicle). The head of your upper arm bone fits into a rounded socket in your shoulder blade. This socket is called the glenoid. A combination of muscles and tendons keeps your arm bone centered in your shoulder socket. These tissues are called the rotator cuff. They cover the head of your upper arm bone and attach it to your shoulder blade. Most shoulder problems fall into four major categories: Tendon inflammation (bursitis or tendinitis) or tendon tear, Instability, Arthritis, or Fracture (broken bone). Other much less common causes of shoulder pain are tumors, infection, and nerve-related problems.
The hip consists of two bones: the thighbone (femur) and the hip (pelvis). The femur and the pelvis come together to form the hip joint (iliofemoral). The thighbone is a long bone running from the knee up to the hip with a head shaped like a ball to fit neatly into a socket on the hip (acetabulum). Inside the socket is a flexible rim of soft tissue called the labrum, which helps increase the stability of the hip. Surrounding the hip joint is a joint capsule and multiple ligaments that help strengthen the hip joint.
The knee joint is one of the strongest and most important joints in the human body. It allows the lower leg to move relative to the thigh while supporting the body’s weight.
